I still can’t believe that my little monkey, Gavin turned one! He seems to little to be one! We had a little family party for him and it was so good to see everyone. I made him his very own little cake and dyed the icing nice and blue to make sure he could get really messy:) Silly Gavin though would barely touch the cake! He would pick at it with one or two fingers but really wasn’t getting anything.

Finally Sierra (my sister-in-law) smashed his hand into the top of the cake covering it with icing. Gavin got SO mad! He immediately started crying and as much as we tried to distract him he just wouldn’t stop!

Finally my mom cleaned his hand off and gave him a bite with a fork. That made him happy and he prceeded to eat the rest of his cake like a perfect gentleman with a spoon:)

After a little while we let Tayla, who waited ever so patiently, sit down and help her brother out a bit:) AfterTayla started Gavin got a little more into it realizing that it wasn’t so bad:)

By the end the sink water was quite blue!

It was a wonderful day and I’m so grateful for all my family and friends who were there (or tried to be;)). It’s been a long hard year with lots of bumps in the road and certainly some unexpected turns. I’m so grateful for my baby boy and the joy that he has consistently brought into my life. He is such a sweet snugly boy and I cannot even begin to imagine where I would be without him. He’s been my saving grace so many times. I’m so excited to have my little man grow up by my side for many more years to come. As for an update on him medically he is 16 1/2 lbs and 27 1/2 inches long. Still such a little guy, I feel like we will never get to turn him around in his car seat! From the fever that he had in Colorado (along with a few other things) he was diagnosed with Kawasaki Disease. The disease itself is not too bad but the damage it can cause is a little scarier. It causes damage to the heart’s vessels and arteries then causing aneurysms

. Thankfully Gavin has a very mild case. He has a dialated artery and they are monitoring it right now with monthly Echo cardio grams and daily asprin. As far as the growth issues we are going to be starting him on growth horomones as soon as we can figure out the financial side of that.
Gavin loves to wave buhbye, he is still frog scooting all over the place and it can make anyone laugh:) It is the cutest thing ever. He is finally saying mom and mama, which I love of course:) He signs milk and drink and eat on a regular basis and will sign lots of others when the shows are on. He is pulling himself up on things and is even getting closer to crawling on all fours. He still usually scoots though because he can go so much faster:) He also has gotten very good at shaking his head no when he is doing something he knows he isn’t supposed to! He absolutely adores his big sister and it is so fun to watch them play together. I am so blessed to have two amazing kids and can’t believe that my youngest is now one! I never thought I’d be here:) Gavin you are so loved! We hope you had a happy day!

The guys loved their presents, the little girls had so much fun playing and Nicholes sister came over at the end with their adorable little puppy Harley. She is the tiniest sweetest thing and Tayla was in heaven. She carried her around forever, being so sweet and gentle.

Morgan; she’s just adorable and I miss her so much! (I put her hair in pigtails for the first time ever and she asked me many days after that for “pig, pig pig?”)

The girls had fun playing with the dogs too. Tayla especially LOVED those dogs.

Despite the size difference can you believe that there is only a 4 month age difference in these two girls?! Talk about opposite ends of the spectrum!

The last night we were there  Gavin found these nerf “arrows” and loved to chew and suck on them. It kept him entertained for quite a while!

Saturday morning even though I REALLY didn’t want to leave or come home we hit the road around noon. After having a very slow start and then stopping at a Gymboree outlet, I realized around 6 that night that there was no way we would be able to drive straight so we stopped in Reddin WY and stayed the night at a hotel. It worked out great. The kids slept great and slept in and so did I. After quickly throwing clothes on and getting eveything back in the car we hit the road about 9:00. We hit some prety bad weather coming into Utah but made it home safe and sound about 4 in the afternoon.

He somehow managed to get a Kix balanced on his ear! Haha - we knew those ears would come in handy!;)
