Qatar Chamber recently participated in the third edition of the Gulf-Jordanian Communication Forum which kicked off on Tuesday in the Capital of Jordan, Amman.
Held under the theme “New aspects for economic and investment cooperation”, the forum is organised by the Federation of Gulf Cooperation Council Chambers (FGCCC), in cooperation with the Secretariat General of GCC and the Jordan Chamber of Commerce (JCC).
The Chamber’s delegation was led by its Chairman HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani and includes board members Mr. Abdel-Rahman Abdel-Jalil Abdel-Ghani and Dr Mohamed Jawhar Al-Mohamed, as well as general manager Mr. Saleh bin Hamad Al-Sharqi alongside with a number of prominent businessmen.
HE Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Jordan Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani also was present at the inauguration ceremony.
On the sidelines of the forum, HE Prime Minister of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan Dr. Bisher Hani Al Khasawneh met in his office with heads of delegations participating in the event, including QC Chairman HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani.
In a statement, Sheikh Khalifa praised the close relations between GCC states and Jordan at all fields, especially in the economic and commercial aspects, noting that the Gulf private sector enjoy distinguished relations with its Jordanian counterpart.
HE expressed his hope this forum would contribute to boosting economic and commercial ties between both parties and transferring the strong brotherly relations between the Gulf and Jordanian private sectors to broader horizons, in a way that creates common benefits to citizens, the economy and governments, and reflects a distinct model for Arab-Arab economic relations.
Sheikh Khalifa also stressed the historic deep-rooted relations between Qatar and Jordan at all levels, especially in the economic and commercial fields, pointing to their common concern to develop such relations to higher levels, as well as strengthen cooperation between the Qatari and Jordanian private sectors, in a way that benefits the two countries’ economies, mutual investment projects, and trade volume.
As for the two countries’ bilateral trade, HE said that last year it amounted to QR 624mn, indicating that Chambers of Commerce in both countries have a major role in developing cooperation relations between the private sector through activating the joint business council, intensifying mutual visits and holding meetings that address ways to enhance cooperation, increase trade exchange and advance joint economic relations.
QC Chairman emphasized that Qatari businessmen are interested to expand their investments in Jordan in various sectors like healthcare, tourism, banking, education, real estate, equities, and alternative energy, noting that there are hundreds of Jordanian companies operating in Qatar in partnership with Qatari companies in many sectors such as trading, contracting, construction, interior design, maintenance, real estate, education, services, and others.
HE invited Qatari and Jordanian businessmen to forge partnerships and alliances, whether in Qatar or Jordan, stressing that both counties enjoy an attractive investment climate and offer a host of affordable opportunities.
On behalf of HE Prime Minister Dr. Bisher Hani Al Khasawneh, the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yousef Shamali inaugurated the forum which aims at reviewing investment opportunities in economic and commercial sectors; and addressing top challenges facing the commercial GCC-Jordanian cooperation and means to overcome them.
